Consumer VOICE organised a consumer awareness workshop with the support from Consumers International and Swedish Society for Nature Conservation (SSNC) under the Green Action Week campaign on October 7, 2017 at Indraprastha College, Greater Noida.
The main objective of the workshop was to spread awareness on the importance of organic farming and educate and encourage consumers to make a switch from conventional food which contains usage of chemicals and pesticides to organic food by highlighting the benefits of organic food.
Mr.Hemant Upadhyay, Senior Advisor Consumer VOICE welcomed the guests and introduced the topic ‘Organic food - From farm to Plate’ to the esteemed guests.
Rinki Sharma, expert from Consumer VOICE spoke about Consumer VOICE’s initiative of “Prakritik Aaahar”. She also elaborated on the importance of organic food and the difference between organic and conventional food. She shared the experiences of four years journey on organic farming initiative by Consumer VOICE.
The main speaker of the event was Mr. Ravi Ranjan, expert from Brahma Arpan Organic private limited based in Delhi. The fifteen year old organisation promotes organic farming practices and trains the farmers to grow organic food products. Mr.Ranjan share views from his vast experience of this field with audience and told them about benefits of adopting organic food.
He stressed how usage of pesticides in farming is harmful for our health. He appreciated the programme and highlighted the importance of organic food.
Organic food packets from our initiative of Prakritik Aahar along with informative pamphlets on Green Action Week 2017 were distributed among the audience.
More than 70 participants were present at the workshop. The attendees were law students, law professionals, law faculties, retired government officials, people from civil societies and residents of Greater Noida and Noida. They appreciated this kind of informative session. The workshop ended with a question-answer session by the experts.
